Kaniya Energy Needs Index
(KENI)

The Kaniya Energy Needs Index (KENI) is an index developed by Kaniya Energy to help quantify the energy needs of individuals and households across Africa. This index is designed to show the linkages between individual or household's energy sufficiency and their socio-economic needs.

This product helps Kaniya Energy to track the energy use and/ or demand for energy, as well as, analyse the purchasing power of the individual or household.

How is the information gathered?

The Kaniya Team in the community conducts a survey (and mapping) of every household in the community. The data collected is analysed and collated into a report. This survey is conducted every two years in a particular community.
